Typical tasks and duties
Welding Technologist may perform the following tasks:
- coordinating welding and welding-related activities and defining technical responsibilities
- monitoring compliance with welding quality-assurance and quality-control requirements
- reviewing welding procedures, processes and procedure-qualification requirements
- reviewing non-destructive testing procedures and interpreting relevant reports
- applying knowledge of welding standards, materials, metallurgy and joint design
- performing or overseeing welding-related inspections, clearances and technical sign-off where authorised
- troubleshooting technical welding issues and supporting engineering and welding-supervision teams
