Supervises and coordinates food-and-beverage staff in a café or restaurant, ensuring professional service, staff performance, stock control, cleanliness and day-to-day front-of-house operations.
Typical tasks and duties
Café or Restaurant Supervisor may perform the following tasks:
- supervising, coordinating and training food-and-beverage employees
- monitoring staff rosters and performance and addressing routine service issues
- taking reservations, greeting and seating guests and supporting customer service
- maintaining stock control and preparing displays or specials
- ensuring work areas meet cleanliness, workplace health and safety and service standards
- coordinating with managers and other establishment sections during service
- supporting beverage preparation and other relevant front-of-house duties
