Occupation details and duties
Performs routine work involved in breeding and raising fish and other aquatic stock in aquaculture operations.
Typical tasks and duties
Aquaculture may perform the following tasks:
- feeding and grading aquatic stock and monitoring growth and condition
- assisting with nets, cages, pens and other aquaculture infrastructure
- checking and maintaining pumps, equipment and fish-housing systems
- testing and monitoring water quality and recording production data
- removing dead or unhealthy stock and supporting biosecurity and hygiene procedures
- harvesting, sorting and packing aquatic stock for transport
- restocking tanks, ponds, pens or other production areas with juvenile stock
