Occupation details and duties
Inspects livestock, crops, agricultural produce and related facilities to support compliance with quarantine, quality, food-safety, health and licensing standards.
Typical tasks and duties
Farm Inspector may perform the following tasks:
- inspecting livestock, crops, produce and farm machinery for compliance with relevant standards
- monitoring farm operations and identifying issues affecting crop or livestock health
- recognising pests, diseases and quality defects and recommending corrective action
- checking produce against required quality, size, purity and industry standards
- inspecting packing or processing equipment for cleanliness and proper operation
- training or supervising farm workers in grading and quality-control procedures
- monitoring hygiene, workplace safety and regulatory compliance at farm and packing facilities
