Assists motor mechanics with routine servicing and repair support work, including basic component replacement, lubrication and workshop tasks.
Typical tasks and duties
Mechanic’s Assistant may perform the following tasks:
- assisting mechanics to remove, replace and repair worn or defective vehicle parts
- helping dismantle and reassemble mechanical components
- changing oils, filters and other routine service items
- cleaning parts, tools and workshop areas
- moving tools and components and carrying out routine mechanical support work under direction
