Director (Film, Television, Radio or Stage) interprets and approves selection of scripts, and directs and instructs cast and crew during filming, recording or performance of productions. This occupation requires high levels of creative talent or personal commitment and interest as well as, or in place of, formal qualifications and experience.
Film, stage and television directors may perform the following tasks:
- study scripts to determine artistic interpretation
- plan and arrange for set designs, costumes, sound effects and lighting
- select actors for roles in the production by viewing performances and conducting screen tests and auditions
- plan, direct and coordinate filming or taping, instructing camera operators on the position and the angle of their shots and coordinating changes in lighting and sound
- edit film or videotape and add soundtrack and other effects
- coordinate the activities of the studio/stage crew, performers and technicians during rehearsals and productions.
This occupation belongs to Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL) . STSOL consists of the list of the occupations which are high in demand in Australia. - Qualification(s) assessed at AQF Bachelor degree or higher degree with a highly relevant field of study and at least one year of post-qualification highly relevant employment in the last five years; Or
- Qualification(s) assessed at AQF Bachelor degree or higher degree with an additional qualification at least Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Diploma level in a highly relevant field of study and at least two years of post qualification highly relevant employment in the last five years; Or
- Qualification(s) assessed at AQF Bachelor degree or higher degree without a highly relevant field of study and at least three years of post-qualification highly relevant employment in the last five years;
According to Vetassess, if you have pre-qualification employment and if all of your employment is before your qualification assessed at the AQF bachelor degree level , you are required to have five years of highly relevant employment in addition to at least one year of highly relevant employment at an appropriate skill level completed in the last five years.
